Websites from A to Z

EDIT: The list was incredibly long, so I converted it into a cloud. Much nicer to look at.

Okay, fine… A – W. I’m working on some course material, and came across a document I created a while back. I’ve added to it and put it into alphabetical order for the sake of a glossary. It essentially covers every aspect you need to consider when creating a website.

I thought I’d share it with the world as this is a list of words relating to aspects of website creation needing to be considered, or at least communicated on most projects.

    Hi Ross

I was delighted to see that forms are so important to web sites that you’ve given them a double entry on your list :-) I would add a few items extra, though:

    1. “The reason why you’re creating a website” – I think people sometimes forget to think through why they’re doing it.

    2. “Privacy/data protection” – like Accessibility, this is a legal requirement in many countries and a moral requirement in all of them.

    3. “Internationalisation/localisation” – it’s a World Wide Web and it’s a good idea to think about whether you want to serve an international audience, or strictly a local one, or what mixture of those.

    Best
    Caroline

Hi Caroline, thanks for spotting that. I’ve removed the redundant form :) I also added your suggestions…
