Thanks... I may do so in the future. At the moment, I'm taking a sabbatical from commercial photography and am concentrating on other things, but will need to research software when I make my return or a client requires something that suits these wares.

Great article. I have been struggling with this decision and your article certainly helps. One thing I can say though, Jamie has been very responsive to my questions and feedback. If the software doesn't have what you need, it will. He really takes a lot of pride in it.
The big thing for me as a protographer is reporting features and admin stuff. Pixaria has the ability to run a sales report, user reports, etc. I don't believe Gallery has that feature. And as you mention, Pixaria is a more direct approach, without the need for plugins, etc.
It would be great if you could re-evaluate both programs for us now since it's been over 2 years since you wrote the original article. Thanks for taking the time to post!

Thanks for this article. I bought Pixaria and aren't too bad with CSS/HTML, but am having trouble trying to figure out how to customise the look/layout. If you have any pointers :)
btw grab some free songs from my wife's website.

Hi Alan, as far as I know, both support EXIF and IPTC quite effectively. I'm sure they both offer this info in their documentation.

@Leon. It sounds like Gallery has grown nicely. I can't wait for our update and re-do which is fast approaching.

I have already done extensive keywording within Photoshop CS3's Bridge program. How do they both compare for importing keywording, EXIF, and IPTC metadata?

Also, are there any limitation to the amount of images allowed in either system? You mentioned you have over 12,000 images in Gallery. I would hate to find out that either program bogs down with larger quantities.

"I sometimes have to log out quickly to see how it looks without the admin dropdown menus etc."

There is also no need to do this either in G2 as there's a 'switch' link to view the site as a 'guest' so you can have that open in another tab and just refresh that.

Re: Watermark, yes it's very easy in G2 and has the option of showing WM or not if you are logged in or guest (ie: logged in user shows no WM).

@Jason, thanks man. Glad to have a new subscriber. I don't post hellishly often, but sometimes thats a good thing :)

@F.v.d. duin, thanks for pointing that out. I am going through a major overhaul/update/revamp of my gallery installation on www.circuitchaser.com. It will be awesome if things are as you say they are. I guess I'll have to do a follow up article once I've installed and played with the latest gallery.
