Great to hear. I have been out of this for a while, but great to hear that Jamie is still going strong. I did suspect at the time that it was a system destined to be great if he persevered. If I have the need again, I'll certainly look into it.

I've used Gallery 2 and Pixaria. I prefer Pixaria personally, especially as the support system works and you don't have to hang around on forums waiting for an answer if you are a developer. Pixaria is now on v3.3 and there is an additional product in the camp - Asset Deck - which is a full on Digital Asset Management platform that will handle office docs, Creative suite files, and previews pdf and eps vector files (Needs Ghostscript & ImageMagick). Jamie hasn't sat on his arse.

Don't forget about a script called Photostore made by Ktools, I found it a lot easier to use than Pixaria and my customer (wedding clients) absolutely love it. Sold a lot of prints using that system online than I ever did with paper based order forms in the mail.

Todd, you are 100% correct. This post did not take "secure" servers inside your company network into consideration. I do hope you will forgive my nonsensical article. Might I recommend you look into http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/group/index.html.

You are not making sense. Let's say that my $WORK email is joe@microsoft.com. In step 10 above, you say that when I (or anyone else I presume) sends email to joe@microsoft.com, it magically makes it to my gmail inbox? No, that's not how DNS works. It queries DNS for the MX record for the domain, and delivers it to the domain's mail exchanger. If my $WORK domain has a server that supports POP or IMAP, I could use gmail, but not if my email gets delivered to the "secure" server inside my company's network.

Thanks. I too am moving to the 'Cloud'. I don't have to worry about backups, or hard drive crashes. I also moved my XP to my iMac for the one program I need in Windows. iMacs are so much better too.

Thanks... I may do so in the future. At the moment, I'm taking a sabbatical from commercial photography and am concentrating on other things, but will need to research software when I make my return or a client requires something that suits these wares.
