Pricing Guideline
Important notes about this page: Creative services are not a commodity. As such, prices below are given as an indication of what the pricing could start at. All services and modules shown below can be extended to whatever lengths you require.
Creative - Website interface design
I create custom designs for my clients after a healthy dose of client discovery. All designs are made to fit your business objectives, suit your company’s unique aesthetic and facilitate clear communication.

Converting designs to web pages - Cutting to HTML/CSS
Designs are coded into semantic and valid HTML. This is where the designs are carefully sliced up and converted into web pages. The quality in which this is done effects the way your site is indexed by search engines, the speed that it downloads and the consistency in which it is rendered in the various browsers.
From R3,000
Adding content is costed based on the amount of content required and it’s complexity.
Animation & flair - Flash design & development
Flash is a technology that requires a very explicit brief. A vague specification will result in a vague cost estimate which will end in an unhappy customer or a huge and unexpected bill. You could budget around R2,000 to R5,000 for some cosmetic flash, or up to and above R10,000 for some more dynamic elements (reading from a database etc.) or you could go the whole hog and budget a couple hundred thousand. Really it’s that variable.
Drop me a line if you want to figure this out. A specification can be drawn up if need be.
Editing your own website - Basic content management
Having the ability to manage your own website is often a requirement. Basic content management gives you the following:
- Page management
- Basic document management
- Form management
- User management
- Activity audit log
- Site diagnostic tools
- Meta tag management
- Content recycle bin
- Google Analytics integration

Regular publishing - News/blog module
The news module allows you to publish news on your website. It can be modified in a number of ways to serve as a blog with comments, or have additional fields added to suit your requirements.

Selling goods/services online - eCommerce
Selling goods online requires the following:
- A Product Catalogue
- An Online Ordering System (Shopping Cart)
- Online Payment System (subtract approx. R2,000 if this is not required)
All online shops have something unique about them. Be it the way you sell, what you sell, who you’re selling to, or a number of other factors. The Realm Platform is versatile enough to fulfill your needs and be customised to your unique requirements.

Cataloguing assets - Listings module
The listing module is essentially very similar to the product catalogue in eCommerce. It can be tweaked and customised to suit your needs, have custom fields added to it and be displayed on your website in a multitude of different ways.

Customer relations - CRM module
Customer relationships are what a successful online business is all about. Tying in with other modules that interact with visitors (newsletters, shopping carts etc.), this feature allows you to keep track of your customers and interact with them more effectively.

Broadcasting your message - Newsletters & subscribers
Making use of your imported or collected subscriber database, you can market effectively to one or more groups of recipients. Using opt-in techniques and advanced analytics, your campaigns will be highly measurable. The number of subscribers, groups, frequency of broadcast etc. will all influence the end costing of this service.

Making things easy to find - Site search
Search can be an integral means of navigating your website. Especially when there are large amounts of products or content. The site search can be modified to filter search. eg: search within specific regions, or for specific types of products/price ranges.

Sustainability - Training & support
Both training and support are offered by Realm Digital. They have dedicated support personnel and offer training both in person or telephonic/via Skype.
Training sessions are normally a fixed number of hours for a fixed amount of people.
Support is offered as a monthly subscription service.
Prices subject to requirements.
All prices excluding 14% VAT.
All CMS features are costed using the Realm Platform by Realm Digital, my choice of web technology.
I also design for Wordpress and together with some freelancing partners, we can put together a fully themed Wordpress site to your specification. We offer no training or support on these websites, but through their Open Source nature, you shouldn’t struggle to find.
Regarding Timelines: Designing and developing websites can take longer than print media as you have a number of additional facets involved like user testing, browser compatability etc. For a small brochure style website you’re looking at 3 - 4weeks minimum and for something larger, like an eCommerce site, 2-3 months. More custom projects will be issued a timeline based on their requirements.
International Clients: I currently service only the South African and United Kingdom markets. If you’re interested and not in SA or UK, I am willing to consider work if the timezone does not differ beyond 2hrs (of GMT+2) and you’re able to communicate fluently in English. To translate into your currency, use the currency converter at XE. All prices below are in ZAR (South African Rands).
